Jongmyo Daeje in Seoul

A solemn Confucian ancestral ritual held once a year, on the first Sunday in May, at Jongmyo Shrine in Seoul, honoring the spirit tablets of Joseon Dynasty kings and queens. Performed by Joseon royal descendants under the Korea Heritage Service and dedicated preservation associations, it combines ritual offerings, court music, and line dances recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.
