Seoul Marathon in Seoul
One of Asia's oldest road races, first held in March 1931 and still run each spring through central Seoul with longtime sponsorship from the Dong-A Ilbo newspaper. Recognized as a World Athletics Heritage event, it draws elite international runners alongside tens of thousands of amateur participants across full marathon, half marathon, and shorter distance categories.
Seoul Marathon descends from one of the oldest continuously run road races in Asia, tracing its first edition back to March 1931, when it was organized by the Koryo Track Sports Association with backing from the Dong-A Ilbo newspaper and the Chosen Athletic Association during the Japanese colonial period.
