Jaffna Music Festival in Jaffna
The Jaffna Music Festival, part of a Sri Lanka-Norway music cooperation established around 2009, alternates its host city with Galle and centres on Jaffna's municipal grounds when it is the city's turn to host. Four simultaneous morning stages cover folk, classical, contemporary and children's music, building to an evening main-stage show, with particular emphasis on Tamil folk music and Bharatanatyam dance.
Four stages running side by side each morning give equal billing to folk, classical, contemporary and children's music when the Jaffna Music Festival takes over the city's municipal grounds, part of the same Sri Lanka-Norway music cooperation that also produces the sister event in Galle.
