Bingsjo Folk Music Gathering in Bingsjo
Bingsjostamman is a traditional Swedish fiddlers' gathering, or spelmansstamma, held on the first Wednesday of July each year in the village of Bingsjo in Rattvik municipality, Dalarna. Organized jointly by Folkmusikens Hus, the Dalarna Fiddlers' Association and the village of Bingsjo itself, it forms part of the region's wider midsummer-season stammovecka and centers on informal street playing, concerts and traditional dance rather than a staged concert format alone.
Dalarna has long been considered one of the heartlands of Swedish folk-fiddle music, and Bingsjostamman is one of the traditional spelmansstammor, fiddlers' gatherings, that keep that tradition active each summer.
