Sabaton Open Air in Falun
Sabaton Open Air is a heavy metal and rock festival in Falun, Dalarna, founded in 2008 by the Swedish power metal band Sabaton, who recorded a live DVD at its first edition. Known as Rockstad: Falun until 2013, it moved from an indoor venue to the city's Lugnet ski stadium area as it grew, and has drawn international acts and audiences from more than a dozen countries to Dalarna's regional capital each summer.
Sabaton Open Air began life in 2008 under the name Rockstad: Falun, when the Swedish power metal band Sabaton chose the Dalarna city as the setting to film a live DVD in front of roughly 1,600 fans at the EX-Huset venue, built on the grounds of the old Dalregementet military barracks.
