Partille Cup in Gothenburg/Partille

Partille Cup is the world's largest annual handball tournament by number of participants, held each July in and around Gothenburg for players aged 10 to 21. Founded by the handball club IK Savehof in 1970 in the town of Partille, the tournament has run for more than fifty consecutive years.

Partille Cup began in 1970 in the small town of Partille, just outside Gothenburg, founded by the handball club IK Savehof as what was then a modest youth tournament.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Since its founding in 1970, Partille Cup has grown from a local tournament in the small town of Partille into an event that has hosted more than 400,000 total participants from 90 countries across six continents, credentials that support its standing as the largest youth handball tournament in the world

02

The mystery stays covered

The tournament marked its 50th consecutive year in July 2019, an unbroken run unusual for a youth sports event of this international scale

03

The city starts moving

Heden, a large public space in central Gothenburg, functions as the tournament's heart, hosting 30 playing fields alongside a dedicated Heden Center providing information, sponsor activities and sales for the week
