The story

Cykelvasan in Salen/Mora

Cykelvasan is the cycling event of the Vasaloppet Summer Week, run each August between Salen and Mora in Dalarna. The 30 kilometer family-oriented version, Cykelvasan 30, covers 32 kilometers of forest roads and gravel from Oxberg to Mora and is scheduled for August 7, 2026.

Cykelvasan belongs to the Vasaloppet Summer Week, the warm-weather counterpart to the famous Vasaloppet cross-country ski race that has run between Salen and Mora since 1922.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Cykelvasan is built specifically to be accessible: organizers describe it as an event where the whole family can cycle together, welcoming both mountain bikes and ordinary bicycles rather than requiring specialized equipment

02

The mystery stays covered

The Cykelvasan 30 route runs 32 kilometers, mostly on forest roads and gravel with a short stretch of asphalt, passing three staffed checkpoints with drinks, food and basic bike repair support, and it carries no cut-off time, so riders are not pressured to maintain race pace

03

The city starts moving

Finishers cross under the same historic finish line arch in Mora used by the Winter Week ski race and the Ultravasan ultramarathon, tying the ride into the same century-old Vasaloppet tradition
