Brannbollsyran in Umea
Brannbollsyran is a recurring Umea event held since 1974 that combines a large open-air music festival with the Brannbollscupen, a mass-participation brannboll tournament, brannboll being a Swedish bat-and-ball game similar to rounders and, more distantly, related to baseball itself, played across the festival grounds each summer.
Umea, a university city in northern Sweden with one of the country's youngest average populations, has hosted Brannbollsyran since 1974, making it one of the longer-running fixtures on the city's cultural calendar.
