100 km of Biel in Biel/Bienne
Running since 1959, the 100 km of Biel is one of the world's oldest ultramarathons, circling the countryside around Lake Biel through an overnight race that starts in the afternoon and finishes in darkness. Solo runners, relay teams, and a walking category share the same course, giving the event an unusually broad range of participants for an ultra-distance race.
Few ultramarathons carry the history of the 100 km of Biel, first run in 1959 and now recognized as one of the oldest continuously staged ultra-distance races in the world.
