Bosra Festival in Bosra
The Bosra Festival is a national music and folklore festival historically staged inside the extraordinary Roman Theatre at Bosra, a second-century, 15,000-seat amphitheater in southern Syria's Daraa governorate renowned for its acoustics and near-total preservation. Long a highlight of Syria's cultural calendar, the festival was suspended for years amid the civil war, and Bosra's recent tourism revival has focused mainly on the ancient site itself rather than a confirmed resumption of large-scale festival programming.
In the far south of Syria, in Daraa governorate near the border with Jordan, sits the ancient city of Bosra and, within it, one of the finest surviving Roman theatres in the world.
