Alishan Cherry Blossom Festival in Alishan

Each March and April, the high-mountain villages of Alishan Township in Chiayi County fill with Yoshino and mountain cherry blossoms along the Alishan Forest Recreation Area's trails and the narrow-gauge Alishan Forest Railway line. Visitors ride the century-old train through cypress groves and tea terraces to reach viewing points where pink and white blossoms frame sunrise views from Chushan and the surrounding peaks.

Long before Alishan became a cherry blossom destination, it was a logging camp.
