Yilan Green Expo in Yilan

The Yilan Green Expo is an annual spring eco and agricultural-lifestyle exposition, held since 2000, that helped rebrand Yilan County from a traditional farming region into a culture-and-tourism destination. Now centered near Dongshan Township after earlier years at Wushanshi Scenic Area, it runs roughly from late March into May under a new theme each year.

In 2000, Yilan County faced a familiar problem for a rural Taiwanese county: how to turn an agricultural economy into something that could also draw tourists without abandoning what made the place distinct.
