Falak Day Festival in Dushanbe/Nationwide
Falak Day, held each year on October 10, celebrates falak, the soulful Tajik song tradition native to the Pamir region that was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Established as an official holiday in 2007, the day centers on falak concerts and related music, dance, and art programming across Dushanbe and beyond.
High in the Pamir Mountains of Gorno-Badakhshan, in a region often called the roof of the world, Tajik singers developed a musical tradition unlike anything performed in the lowland cities of the Ferghana Valley or the Zarafshan.
