Sauti za Busara in Stone Town

Sauti za Busara, Swahili for Sounds of Wisdom, is an annual pan-African music festival held every February in Stone Town, Zanzibar. Founded in 2004 and centered on the Old Fort, it gathers several hundred musicians from across the continent for four days of concerts spanning taarab, bongo flava, and traditional Swahili coast styles, alongside a street parade in the Beni brass-band tradition.

Sauti za Busara takes its name from Swahili for Sounds of Wisdom, and since its first edition in 2004 it has grown into one of East Africa's largest gatherings of African musicians, built around a deceptively simple idea: bring hundreds of artists from across the continent into a single walkable corner of Stone Town for a few days each February.
