D'pontr/N'dack in Bassar/Guerinkouka
D'pontre, called N'nidak by the Konkomba people, is the shared new-yam festival of the Bassar and Konkomba communities of northern Togo, celebrated each first week of September in Guerin-Kouka, Dankpen prefecture, about 440 kilometers north of Lome. The 60th edition was held September 7, 2024.
The yam festival known as D'pontre among the Bassar people and N'nidak among the Konkomba is a joint traditional celebration held each year in the region of Bassar, in northern Togo, roughly 440 kilometers from the capital, Lome, with its main public event staged in Guerin-Kouka, the chief town of Dankpen prefecture.
