Festival International de Kerkennah in Kerkennah Islands
Kerkennah Islands hosts a long-running annual summer festival, reaching a 30th edition in 2025, organized by a local association and mixing Tunisian concerts, comedy and folk performances. Its exact official name is not consistently confirmed in press coverage, and it should not be confused with several other, more specifically named Kerkennah events, including an Octopus Festival, a Blue Crab Festival and a separate photography and digital arts festival.
Kerkennah is a flat, low-lying archipelago off the coast of Sfax, reached by ferry, whose fishing identity is built on charfia, a centuries-old method of channeling octopus and other seafood into stationary palm-frond traps without motorized boats.
