The story

Runatolia Antalya in Antalya

Runatolia is a former brand name for what is now marketed as Runtalya, a continuously run Antalya marathon founded in 2006 as the Runtalya Uluslararasi Antalya Maratonu. The race passes Hadrian's Gate and the Yivli Minare Mosque through Antalya's old city, finishing at the Cam Piramit expo area, and now draws more than 10,000 runners from over 50 countries.

Before it became known as Runatolia, and before it reverted to its current name, this race began in March 2006 as the Runtalya Uluslararasi Antalya Maratonu, launched with 850 runners as a deliberate effort to diversify Turkish tourism into the shoulder and winter seasons, when Antalya's usual summer beach crowds have thinned.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

This is worth flagging clearly: Runatolia is not a separate, standalone festival but a historical rebrand of the same continuously operating race, which started in 2006 as Runtalya, was later marketed under Oger Tours sponsorship and then as Runatolia from roughly 2015, and has since reverted to its Runtalya name, now presented by Fraport TAV

02

The mystery stays covered

The 2026 edition marked the race's 20th anniversary and sold out, with more than 10,000 participants from 54 countries in its 2024 edition, making it, by most measures, Turkey's second-largest running event after the Istanbul Marathon
