Yalova Caucasus Dance and Music Festival in Yalova
The Yalova Caucasus Dance and Music Festival celebrates the traditions of Circassian, Abkhaz, and Georgian communities descended from nineteenth-century Caucasus migrations, a heritage strongly represented across the Marmara region including Yalova province, expressed through Kafkas folk dance and music performances.
The nineteenth-century Caucasus migrations, particularly the mass displacement of Circassian and other North Caucasus peoples following Russia's conquest of the region in the 1860s, resettled large diaspora communities across Ottoman Anatolia, with the Marmara region, including present-day Yalova province, becoming one of several concentrated settlement areas.
