Ekyooto Uganda Cultural Festival in Kampala/rotating
Ekyooto Uganda Cultural Festival, also promoted in its early years as the Uganda International Cultural Festival, is a multi-day showcase of Uganda's regional cultures introduced in 2016 and staged at venues including the Uganda Museum in Kampala. Communities from across the country, including Acholi, Buganda, Busoga, Ankole, Karamoja, and Bakiga, set up cultural exhibits, food, music, dance, and storytelling around the ekyooto, the traditional fireside gathering that gives the festival its name.
The Ekyooto Uganda Cultural Festival, also promoted in its early years as the Uganda International Cultural Festival, launched in 2016 with a media event at the Uganda Media Centre, positioning itself as a national showcase for the dozens of distinct ethnic cultures that make up Uganda.
