Pearl Rhythm Festival in Kampala
Pearl Rhythm Festival is a Kampala-based celebration of traditional Ugandan music, initiated in 2012 by the Pearl Rhythm Foundation with support from partners including Alliance Francaise Kampala and the Uganda-German Cultural Society. Held annually in late October at the Uganda National Cultural Centre, it showcases traditional instruments and musicians alongside a young-artist development program called Stage Coach.
Pearl Rhythm Festival was initiated in 2012 by the Pearl Rhythm Foundation with a specific mission that set it apart from Uganda's broader festival landscape: showcasing traditional Ugandan music and instruments at a time when much of the country's popular festival programming leaned toward contemporary Afrobeat, dancehall, and electronic genres.
