Emirates Dubai 7s has run at The Sevens Stadium since 1999 and now forms one stop on the thirteen-event global HSBC SVNS series, hosting both men's and women's rapid sevens rugby, seven players a side, seven-minute halves, within a new three-tier promotion structure that lets teams move between divisions year to year.

A three-tier global structure new to the format lets teams progress from regional competition into the top-level HSBC SVNS 1 division within a single year, and Dubai remains one of the fixed stops on that circuit where the top tier's opening rounds are decided.
