Braemar Gathering in Braemar

Scotland's most royally connected Highland gathering, held each September in Braemar since games with cash prizes began in 1832. Queen Victoria became patron after attending in 1848, a royal association continued by every monarch since, and the event now runs at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park, donated for the purpose in 1906.

The Braemar Gathering traces its organisational roots to the Braemar Wright Society, founded in July 1815 as a friendly society supporting local tradesmen, making it among the oldest such societies still active in Britain.
