Brecon Jazz Festival in Brecon
A jazz festival held in the streets, pubs and halls of Brecon since 1984, inspired by a visit to the Netherlands' Breda Jazz Festival. Free outdoor performances mix with ticketed concerts across the town's historic centre, a format that has drawn major jazz names to the small Powys market town for four decades.
Brecon Jazz Festival began in 1984 after a conversation among local councillors and residents, one of whom had recently visited the Breda Jazz Festival in the Netherlands and returned wanting something similar for the Powys market town of Brecon.
