Cambridge Folk Festival in Cambridge

One of Britain's oldest folk festivals, held at Cherry Hinton Hall on the edge of Cambridge since its first edition on 31 July 1965. Early lineups included The Watersons, Peggy Seeger and a young Paul Simon, and the festival has broadened over decades to include world and roots music alongside its founding folk identity.

Cambridge Folk Festival opened its gates for the first time on 31 July 1965 at Cherry Hinton Hall, a historic estate on the edge of Cambridge, following roughly nine months of planning by Paul Rayment, Philip Abrams and George Scurfield, with Ken Woollard brought in to run the event itself.
