Tafwyl in Cardiff
A free festival on the grounds of Cardiff Castle celebrating Welsh-language music, comedy, theatre and family activity, held each July since its 2006 launch. Aimed at normalising public Welsh use in a capital city where English dominates daily life, Tafwyl draws well over thirty thousand visitors and involves local Welsh-medium schools and youth organisations directly in its programming.
Tafwyl turns the grounds of Cardiff Castle into a free, entirely Welsh-language cultural festival each July, built specifically to give Wales's capital city, where English is the majority daily language for most residents, a concentrated public showcase of Welsh-medium music, comedy, theatre and family activity.
