The story

Creamfields in Daresbury

The UK's largest dedicated electronic dance music festival, held on the Daresbury Estate in Cheshire each August since 2006. Grown directly out of Cream, the Liverpool nightclub founded in 1992, it has expanded from a one-day, 25,000-person event in 1998 to a four-day camping festival hosting around seventy thousand daily.

Creamfields grew directly out of Cream, the Liverpool nightclub founded in 1992 by James Barton, Andy Carroll and Darren Hughes that began as a weekly house music night at Nation, a venue in Wolstenholme Square since demolished.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Creamfields traces a direct, unbroken lineage to Cream, the specific Liverpool nightclub founded in 1992 that gave the festival its name and identity, a continuity from a single club brand to one of Europe's largest dance festivals that few comparable events can claim

02

The mystery stays covered

Its programming remains entirely dedicated to electronic dance music across genres including house, techno, drum and bass and dubstep, rather than the mixed-genre bookings typical of general music festivals, reflecting its specific club-culture origins
