The story

Goodwood Revival in Goodwood

A historic motor racing meeting held each September at Goodwood Motor Circuit, founded in 1998 by Lord March, now the Duke of Richmond, to mark fifty years since the circuit's 1948 opening and revive its mid-century racing heritage. It is the only major historic motorsport event staged entirely in period dress by both competitors and spectators.

Goodwood Revival began in 1998, initiated by Charles Henry Gordon Lennox, then Earl of March and now the eleventh Duke of Richmond, as a deliberate tribute to the original working lifespan of Goodwood Motor Circuit, which had closed to competitive racing back in 1966.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Goodwood Revival is staged entirely in period dress, an immersive requirement extending to spectators as well as competitors, making it the only historic race meeting of its kind to recreate an entire era rather than treating vintage costume as an optional novelty

02

The mystery stays covered

Only genuine historic cars and motorcycles from the periods the circuit itself operated in before its 1966 closure are raced, a strict authenticity that distinguishes the event clearly from Goodwood's other flagship motorsport event, the modern-and-historic Festival of Speed
