Africa Oye Liverpool in Liverpool

Africa Oye fills Liverpool's Sefton Park each June with a free weekend of live African, Caribbean and diaspora music, drawing crowds regularly exceeding fifty thousand. Founded as small city-centre gigs in 1992 and relocated to the park in 2002, it is widely described as the UK's largest celebration of live African music and culture.

Africa Oye began in 1992 as a scattered series of small gigs in Liverpool's city centre, and it grew steadily through the 1990s before outgrowing its original venues and moving in 2002 to Sefton Park, the green space on the edge of the city that has been its home ever since.
