Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore
Maryland Deathfest, running since 2003 over Memorial Day weekend across multiple Baltimore venues, is billed as the biggest event of its kind in North America, drawing extreme metal fans from more than thirty countries. More than eight hundred bands have played since its founding, and the festival, which skipped both the pandemic years and 2023, is confirmed for May 21 through 24, 2026.
Ryan Taylor and Evan Harting founded Maryland Deathfest in 2003, building an annual Memorial Day weekend gathering in Baltimore around death metal and its closely related extreme subgenres, doom, thrash, black metal, grindcore, hardcore punk, and stoner and progressive metal.
