Bar Harbor Music Festival in Bar Harbor
The Bar Harbor Music Festival is an annual summer classical, opera, and jazz concert series held across Bar Harbor, Maine, running from June into early October. Founded in 1967 by violinist Francis Fortier, it reached its 60th anniversary season in 2026 and has built a national reputation for developing young classical musicians early in their careers.
In 1967, a young violinist named Francis Fortier founded a summer concert series in Bar Harbor, Maine, inspired by something the great violinist Yehudi Menuhin had said about the power of beautiful music performed in beautiful places.
