Boston Early Music Festival in Boston

The Boston Early Music Festival (BEMF) is a Grammy-winning early music organization, founded in 1980, best known for its biennial week-long Festival and Exhibition held in Boston in June of odd-numbered years, most recently in 2025 and next scheduled for June 6-13, 2027. Centered on fully staged Baroque opera, it also runs a year-round concert series in Boston and New York featuring internationally renowned early music performers.

In 1980, Boston Early Music Festival emerged from a shared conviction among a handful of Boston-area musicians that early music deserved to be treated as living performance rather than academic reconstruction.
