National Western Stock Show in Denver
Running every January since 1906, the National Western Stock Show is the world's largest stock show by number of animals, combining livestock competitions, one of the largest indoor rodeos in the country, and horse shows drawing more than 18,000 entries. Proceeds fund the National Western Scholarship Trust, which awards 64 scholarships annually to Colorado and Wyoming students.
In 1906, Colorado's cattle and horse industry had a practical problem: breeding and feeding techniques varied widely across operations, and there was no central venue where stockmen could compare methods, evaluate livestock, and attract buyers in one place.
