Dodge City Roundup Rodeo in Dodge City
The Dodge City Roundup Rodeo is a professional rodeo held each summer in Dodge City, Kansas, part of the Dodge City Days celebration. Cowboys and cowgirls compete in bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, and roping events at the citys arena, drawing PRCA-sanctioned competitors from across the region.
Dodge City earned its reputation in the 1870s and 1880s as a railhead for the Texas cattle trade, when longhorns driven north from Texas were loaded onto trains bound for eastern markets.
