John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon in Duluth

The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is a long-distance dogsled race held every January along Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior, from the Duluth area north toward Grand Portage. Named for Ojibwe mail carrier John Beargrease, who delivered mail by dog sled along this route in the late 1800s, it is the longest sled dog race in the lower 48 states and a qualifier for Alaska's Iditarod.
