Fruita Fat Tire Festival in Fruita
The Fruita Fat Tire Festival is one of the longest-running mountain bike demonstration events in the country, built around the slickrock and singletrack of the North Fruita Desert's 18 Road trail system. Presented by the City of Fruita, it pairs bike and gear demos with a downtown product expo and evening concerts, though the event is currently on a scheduled hiatus.
Fruita's rise as a mountain-biking destination is tied to the North Fruita Desert, a stretch of high-desert public land north of town where trail builders in the 1990s began carving singletrack through slickrock outcrops and juniper-studded terrain along what became known as the 18 Road system.
