Green River Festival in Greenfield
The Green River Festival is an annual roots and Americana music festival held each June at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Greenfield, Massachusetts. It began in 1986 as two separate local events, a hot-air balloon fair and radio station WRSI's anniversary concert, that merged and eventually took the Green River name in 2001, growing into a multi-stage weekend with camping, food and craft vendors, and touring roots musicians.
The Green River Festival did not begin as a single, planned music festival; it grew out of two separate 1986 events held a week apart at Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
