Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival in Greenville
The Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival, held each September in Greenville, promotes itself as the oldest Delta blues festival still running. The 2026 edition marks its 49th year, featuring Delta blues artists including Grammy-winning performers alongside regional acts and a fife and drum band.
Greenville sits in the Mississippi Delta, the flat, fertile floodplain between the Mississippi and Yazoo rivers widely regarded as the birthplace of the blues, where the demanding labor of cotton agriculture and the culture of Black communities across the region produced the guitar and vocal styles that would eventually reshape American popular music.
