Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival in Guthrie
The Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, known as OIBF, takes over the Cottonwood Flats in Guthrie, Oklahoma, every second full weekend of October. The three-day festival features three stages of bluegrass music, from local pickers to touring national acts, alongside camping, instrument workshops, a youth competition, food trucks, and an artist market, all built around the site's namesake open-mic Cottonwood Creek Stage.
Guthrie, Oklahoma, is best known nationally for its Victorian-era downtown and its brief run as the territorial and early state capital, but for bluegrass musicians the town carries a different kind of significance: it was home to Byron Berline, a Grammy-nominated fiddler who played with Bill Monroe, the Rolling Stones, and Emmylou Harris before settling in Guthrie and opening a music shop that became a gathering point for pickers passing through Oklahoma.
