Maui Marathon in Kahului
The Maui Oceanfront Marathon, also called the Maui Marathon, is a Boston-qualifying road race held each January along South Maui's coastline, starting at the Shops at Wailea and finishing outside Launiupoko Beach Park near Lahaina. Run by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it offers marathon, half marathon, 6-miler, and 5K distances plus a dinner cruise, with proceeds benefiting local Maui school teams and community groups.
Maui has hosted marathon-distance road races along its coastline for decades, and the event now known as the Maui Oceanfront Marathon, still informally called the Maui Marathon by many longtime participants, continues that tradition with a course built entirely around South Maui's shoreline rather than crossing the island.
