Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre in Logan
Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre is a professional summer repertory company based in Logan, Utah, founded in 1993 by tenor and Utah State University professor Michael Ballam. Each season, typically running from roughly June through August, the company stages a rotating repertory of grand opera and Broadway musicals at the historic Ellen Eccles Theatre in downtown Logan.
When tenor Michael Ballam, a Logan native who had built a career performing on major opera stages, returned to teach at Utah State University, he found no venue in the region capable of hosting the kind of full-scale professional opera he had spent his career performing elsewhere.
