Fete de Marquette in Madison
Held each July at McPike Park on Madison, Wisconsin's east side, Fete de Marquette is the city's largest free annual music festival, launched in 2006 by the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center with a French theme loosely tied to Bastille Day. The multi-day event mixes funk, folk, soul and Latin music with local food vendors and an artisan marketplace, and has raised more than $1.2 million for neighborhood programs.
Madison's Marquette neighborhood, on the city's near east side, has long been served by the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center, a community organization providing social programs, youth services and neighborhood advocacy.
