Crescent City Classic in New Orleans
The Crescent City Classic is a 10-kilometer road race held in New Orleans, Louisiana, on the Saturday before Easter each year. Founded in 1979 by Mac DeVaughn, the point-to-point course starts near the Superdome in the Central Business District and finishes in City Park near the New Orleans Museum of Art.
In 1979, a New Orleans runner named Mac DeVaughn set out to create a road race that would showcase the city in a way few running events attempted: not a closed loop around a stadium or park, but a genuine point-to-point journey through New Orleans's own streets.
