Opelika Songwriters Festival in Opelika
More than 80 performances by upward of 40 singer-songwriters fill seven venues in Historic Downtown Opelika each year for the Opelika Songwriters Festival. Writers' rounds unfold in restaurants and galleries rather than festival tents, and the short walk between coffee shops, pubs, and a distillery keeps the music threaded through the streets after dark. Founded by Rob and Jen Slocumb in 2019, the festival stays intimate by design.
By evening, downtown Opelika hums with that half-hushed, half-electric mood that only songwriter crowds make: people leaning into a lyric in a coffee shop, then stepping back onto the sidewalk to hear another chorus drifting from the next door down.
