The Shenandoah Valley Music Festival is Virginia's longest-running music festival, presenting concerts from mid-July through Labor Day weekend at Shrine Mont, a historic retreat in Orkney Springs, Virginia. Founded in 1963 to bring symphonic music to the rural valley, the festival now also programs bluegrass, country, folk, and Americana acts in an outdoor mountain pavilion.

In 1963, organizers in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley identified a gap: rural communities in the valley had little regular access to live orchestral music, which was concentrated almost entirely in larger cities.
