Reno Jazz Festival in Reno
The Reno Jazz Festival is an annual jazz education event hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno School of the Arts, held each spring and combining a large student jazz competition with public evening concerts by professional jazz artists. Student ensembles from schools across the region travel to Reno to perform for adjudication, while ticketed evening shows bring nationally known jazz musicians to the university campus.
The Reno Jazz Festival grew out of the University of Nevada, Reno School of the Arts commitment to jazz education, building an event that would give student musicians from schools across the region a genuine competitive and educational opportunity, performing for professional adjudicators in a structured festival setting rather than only within their own school programs.
