Tumbleweed Music Festival in Richland
Three Rivers Folklife Society has presented Tumbleweed in Richland since 1997, building on decades of regional folk organizing. A Friday alternative-folk concert opens the weekend, followed by multiple stages and workshops, the Jane Titland Memorial Songwriting Contest, a theme concert and contra dancing. The recurring practices—Friday alternative-folk concert, Jane Titland Memorial Songwriting Contest, and workshops theme concert and contra dance—tie the public program to the place and the people who sustain it.
Songs drift from several corners of Howard Amon Park until the Columbia River seems to carry one workshop into the next stage and on toward an evening dance.
