Launched in 1986, the Fillmore Jazz Festival has grown into the largest free jazz festival on the West Coast, drawing more than 50,000 visitors over Independence Day weekend. Twelve blocks of Fillmore Street between Jackson and Eddy close to traffic for two days of live jazz, honoring the district's history as a major jazz hub in the 1940s.
