Northwest Flower and Garden Festival in Seattle
The Northwest Flower and Garden Festival is a large indoor garden show held each February at the Seattle Convention Center. Professional landscape designers build full-scale display gardens inside the exhibition hall, timed to give Pacific Northwest gardeners a jolt of spring in the middle of winter, alongside seminars, a plant marketplace, and container-design competitions.
The Northwest Flower and Garden Festival emerged from the Pacific Northwest's particular relationship with gardening: a region with a long, wet, plant-friendly growing season but a correspondingly long, grey winter, and a gardening culture eager for any excuse to think about spring early.
