Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville

The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, commonly called The Celebration, is an eleven-day championship horse show held each late August into September at The Celebration grounds in Shelbyville, Tennessee. First held in 1939, it is the breed's premier annual event, culminating in the World Grand Championship, and takes place on a 78-plus acre complex with multiple arenas, barns for more than 1,000 horse stalls, and RV camping facilities.

The Tennessee Walking Horse traces its origins to the late eighteenth century, when Narragansett and Canadian Pacer bloodlines were crossed with gaited Spanish mustangs brought into the American South, eventually producing a breed prized for its smooth four-beat running-walk and calm temperament on Middle Tennessee farms and plantations.
