Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is an annual ten-day motorcycle gathering held every August in Sturgis, South Dakota, and the surrounding Black Hills. Founded in 1938 by the Jackpine Gypsies motorcycle club as the Black Hills Motor Classic, it has grown into one of the world's largest motorcycle rallies, drawing several hundred thousand riders for racing, touring, vendor markets, and concerts across the region.

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally traces back to a single day in 1938, when Clarence Pappy Hoel, an Indian Motorcycle dealer who had formed a riding club called the Jackpine Gypsies, staged a race-and-stunt event he called the Black Hills Motor Classic.
